Reading of *minutes of last meeting *of Friday Oct 16, 2020
In the absence of any corrections,
Dr. Kome, Mike Tubuo and Matthias Waindim adopted and seconded the minutes.
Matters Arising from the Minutes:
Ferdinand Akombi and Dr. Kome have been in contact with Prof. Beti Tanyi to coordinate the Solar project.
Members suggest that Prof. Tanyi should have the authority for oversight of all Solar Projects at the school.
The Chair, Dr Obi Tabot promised to send the Vision and Mission Statements drafted for review and comments.
Rev. Ambe Neba’s requests were reviewed:
- Reminder for Board Members to go on the Board’s Page on the Website.
www.maggsosaalumnifund.org
With the domain established,
we need the association’s emails that will go with it.
What emails to set up and who should man and manage the emails:
For example mails to the Chair:
First and last names@maggsosaalumnifund.org
General inquiries: info@maggsosaalumnifund.org
finance@maggsosaalumnifund.org
Project@maggsosaalumnifund.org,
Secretary@maggsosaalumnifund.org,
Individual alumni emails using their first and last names only.
The Secretary will manage general emails and direct to individuals or Committee heads as appropriate.
- Our Guiding Principles or Core Values (derived from the Anthem): what are they? …..Not resolved
- There is a place holder on the site for that – if the team deems it necessary
Other Matters:
There was an exhaustive debate on the upcoming MAGGSOSA General Meeting in Buea on Nov 21, 2020.
Registration CFA1,000 – One thousand frs
Organization cost – not less that CFA5,000 – five thousand frs
Alumni can to set up PAYPAL link for payments of registration.
The consensus is that every meeting of alumni especially gatherings like the upcoming General Assembly should allocate a percentage of funds collected for the school.
The recent meeting in Douala did not allocate any funds for the school.
Earlier this year, MAGGSOSA Alumni had a GoFundMe to assist PTA project for Temporal Secretariat. Alumni did not get any contribution from the general body.
The ongoing Projects with Office Rehabilitation/ Office Furnishing and Solar Projects are not fully funded, and alumni are not contributing.
However, alumni contribute readily for immediate consumption like the Douala meeting and the upcoming Buea meeting without allocating funds for the school that is at the very essence of their being and their meeting.
There is a MAGGSOSA meeting because there is a school.
The Expense column of the the Nov 21st program should include a column for a percentage of the funds collected to be sent to the school.
A Fundraising Event should equally be planned for the school during the event.
It was on that note that the meeting was adjourned at 10.45pm
Mike Tubuo gave the closing prayer.
Next meeting in 2 weeks – Friday 11/13/2020
